SATC2 Defining Arabian Style

Saturday, June 26, 2010
Love it or hate it, Sex And The City 2 is dictating trends for the coming Summer fashion season.  The 'Desert Chic' look will be featured by Australian fashion designers who are recreating the SATC2 colourful Arabian style wardrobe for women of all ages.

Kirrily Johnson, camilla and marc, and Little Joe Woman are showing flowing kaftans and maxi dresses, harem pants and turban style headwear.  The turban is a dramatic statement maker that is very glamorous, but definitely not for the faint hearted.  This epitome of glamour has been sported by Kate Moss and Mary Kate Olsen.

SATC2 Fashion Stylist would have had a field day designing the dazzling multicoloured wardrobe of embellished kaftans, flowing maxi dresses, exotic jewellery and jewelled sandals.

Fashion Fades

Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Now there is even more reason not to buy this season's fashion, because it's IN.  Next winter in 2011 there is going to be a big change in direction in fashion to smart classics.  The 'Rock Chic' look and 'Retro 80's' will be so dated.  The look is to be flannel, camel, classic tapered trousers and longer skirts.

Also new to the equation is that as fashion houses are now showing their next season's fashions on-line, will trends become irrelevant.  Now if you knew that what you were buying this year would be completely out and a whole new silhouette was coming in, what would you buy?

This to me would be even a much better reason why fashion designers should design classic clothes that flatter the average woman, rather than a stick model.

Why Don't Designers Think Outside the Square

Wednesday, November 11, 2009
Why do fashion designers and clothing manufacturers only design and produce clothing for the skinny models.  Don't they get it that there are real women out there who want to look stylish in fashion that flatters their body shape.  And they are not all mature women either, they range in ages from 20's up.

It's so distressing to shop with a client when anything in size 14+ is in unflattering shapes such as, large florals, round necks, puffy sleeves, frills and flounces and designs that resemble a tent or a balloon.  Nothing beats V necks, semi fitted clothing, well cut designs in beautiful fabrics.

Designers PLEASE think outside the square and design to make a woman feel great about who she is.
