Welcome to our newsletter!

I attended the Association of Image Consultants International Annual Conference on the weekend which was jammed back with great information and new trends. Highlights included eyewear, fashion forecasting in tough economic times, interpreting your dress, corporate wear and sustainable clothing.

I am a proud member of the AICI and their standards and will be incorporating all I gained in my newsletters and consultations. If you would like to book a consultation or workshop on 'Look as Good as You See' with your eyewear contact robin@definingstyle.com.au

Smart Travelling - How to Pack

If you have the travel bug but find packing a disaster, consider the following:

  • Planning - Survey the weather and season of your destination and base your wardrobe around it. Is it a lazy tropical holiday where you need poolside glamour or sturdy boots and coat for walking in Europe. Start with the essentials first, a warm coat or parka or a versatile light jacket.
  • Make sure all your clothing co-ordinates and you can layer if the weather is inclement.
  • Remember less if more. How often do you only wear half of the items you take away.
  • Don't skimp on accessories - these can extend your wardrobe and give you endless outfits. Consider items that have a double usage eg. sarong can double as a shawl. Necklaces, scarves and ties can change your look and take up little room.
  • Pack in layers that are separated by a thin layer of material. This allows you to lift a layer off and not have to turn the whole suitcase upside down to look for an item.
  • Pack your heavy and crushable items on the bottom.
  • Wet pack - place all your toiletries, medicines and makeup in a bag that is waterproof to prevent items leaking.
  • Don't pack the giant economy size shampoo or cream. Use samples you collect to save space.

Sustainable Clothing

At the AICI Conference Thomas Burge of Revamp Resource Management spoke on choices we can make to purchase garments and accessories made from eco friendly fabrics and materials. Its' often as simple as knowing where it was made and was it under fair trade conditions.

  • Reduce - If you know what colours and styles suit you and only buy clothes that look great , you are not only saving money but saving the environment.
  • Reuse - Consider having a wardrobe workout to clean out items you no longer need. Alter clothing that doesn't quite fit or mend torn garments.
  • Recycle - Attend SWAP parties, buy from second hand stores and exchange clothes with friends. To mix n match your existing wardrobe book a wardrobe consultation with Robin on 0419 468 272.

One of the world's most popular shoes is here and has 50% of all shoes. You don't have to own a tennis racket to love Spring Court Shoes. Starting as an athletic based shoe brand in the 1930's, Spring Court helped spearhead the athletic shoe market into a fashionable one. John Lennon wore a pair on his wedding day and on a Beatles album cover.

"Before I was styled by Robin my wardrobe was a bit of a mismatch. Since seeing Robin I have a wardrobe that suits both my colouring and body shape. Now when I enter a shop I know exactly what I am looking for and am more aware of colours I should and shouldn't wear.

As a mother of three I have found this great for saving time and money. I now feel more confident when choosing new clothes or co-ordinating my existing wardrobe. Now with Robin's guidance, I have received endless coments on how much better I look. Robin was great to work with and has equipped me with skills that I will use for life. Robin is always so helpful and full of great advice.
