Your life, your style

Personal branding is my passion. I luv it when clients require my assistance to create their personal brand to align with their business brand. It's creating an authentic image and it can be as simple as choosing colours that flatter you and incorporating these into your branding.

  • As we know, colour affects every moment of our lives even though most of our colour choices are unconscious. It seems only logical to choose colours to suit your image and objective.
  • To discuss a financial endeavour wear burgundy, dark blue or blue based red.
  • To promote or sell wear lighter shades of blue and blue based pinks to inspire, orange to be friendly or yellow to stimulate. Contact robin@definingstyle.com.au to develop your personal brand.

Men - 'The Tie'

The tie is a fashion focal point and a great way to express your personality through colour and style. Some say it also expresses your lover! The length of your tie should come to the centre of your belt buckle and its width should be in proportion to your lapel. Either wear a wide tie with a wide lapel or, a narrow tie with a narrow lapel.

A tie is a powerful dress tool especially when most jackets and suits are black, charcoal or navy. Pattern, colour contrast and the fabric of your tie displays your level of sophistication. Always choose the colour of your tie to enhance your colouring, either cool colours for blue based skin or warmer tones for yellow or golden based skin. To learn more go to Colour Reinvention for Men.

Fix Your Beauty Blunders

How to look and stay well groomed

  • Dark Haired Girls - Batiste Dry Shampoo in black or brunette revitalises your tresses without leaving a trace. $12.95 at Priceline.
  • Chipped Nail Polish - Remove chipped nail polish and leave fingernails natural until you can get to the salon or do them yourself. Cover toes with closed in shoes.
  • Lipstick on Your Teeth - Keep lips in good condition with hydrating balm to avoid bleeding lipstick. After applying lipstick, blot, then move your finger in and out of your mouth. Excess lippie will come off on your finger rather than your teeth.
  • Makeup Lines - Obvious foundation lines make it clear you're wearing make-up and detract from your natural beauty.
  • Social Etiquette - It's socially acceptable to reapply lipstick at the restaurant table, but leave it at that. Go to the 'powder room' for further applications.
  • Bulging Handbag - Regularly clean out your handbag and keep it stocked with only essential items.

"As a size 18-20 and a business owner, I was looking for a way to improve my image. When I met Robin, I found her to be both encouraging and sensitive to my needs and immediately decided to book a consult with her. This proved to be fun and informative and I came away armed with so much information that it seemed a little overwhelming at first. Robin was great with her follow up and helped me identify clothing that I already had that could be worn in a more flattering way and gave me the confidence to make more informed choices when making new purchases.

Over summer I was able to add to my basic wardrobe and accesorise with just a few great purchases to the point of now receiving great feedback from friends, family and business acquaintances. People are frequently asking me have I lost weight (no I haven't) and telling me that I'm looking fantastic. Thanks Robin for your professional yet friendly advice and helping me apply it in a practical yet fun way. "
