Flights of Fancy - Capsule Wardrobe

Travelling to Broome was the perfect time to test my latest service 'A Capsule Wardrobe'.  That is 20 essential pieces that co-ordinate together to make travelling a breeze. As we always pack more than we need, I've created the perfect solution.  Now you can ditch the excess and create the maximum number of outfits from a minimum number of clothing items that easily fit into a suitcase.

My Broome Capsule Wardrobe was as follows:  swimsuit, hat, sarong; shorts, skirt and pants;  3 t-shirts;  2 sundresses;  2 bags; light cardigan;  joggers, 2 flats, strappy sandals and 3 necklaces.

Women - Dress to Your Body Shape - Triangle

The Triangle is a common body shape with the body larger below the waist than above.  You don't necessarily have a large hipline and may have a small bust which makes you appear triangular.  Width needs to be created in the upper body to balance the lower half.  Shoulder pads are most slimming accessory when worn so they are not apparent.  Other slimming strategies include smooth fabrics below the waistline, darker colours in skirts and pants, slightly tapered trousers, high placed accessories and medium to high heels.   

To dress for a Triangle shape:
                                                   
Military Look - Military inspired jacket with brass buttons and narrow black pants
80's Feel -  Jacket with peaked shoulders embellished with studs and straight pants 
Exotic Look - Animal print sheer shirt with chocolate or black pants and exotic brass jewellery
Feminine Fatale - Blouse with puffed sleeves and frills worn over pencil skirt with nude coloured heels.  
                                             

Men - Dress to Your Body Shape - Triangle  

The Triangle body shape is larger below the waist than above, and often accompanied by a sloping shoulder line.  When selecting clothing styles a visual shoulder width will create a stronger upper body appearance.   The Triangle is the fourth shape in the diagram to the right.

To dress for a Triangle shape:
                                                   
Corporate - Wear a single breasted suit with two or three buttons, shoulder pads and a statement tie. Pinstripes will lengthen and slim the body
Casual and Weekend Wear - Wear coloured or patterned shirts (checks or stripes) with darker chinos or jeans.  Avoid wearing light coloured chinos with a dark coloured jacket or shirt which will make you appear wider.
