Welcome to our newsletter!

Well it's all happening at Defining Style this month with a radio interview and two presentations.  I was delighted to chat on ABC Hobart Radio with Ryk Mu on what to wear to the cocktail party at the opening of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Hobart.  Listen to  MONAopening.mp3

The girls at Inspiring Women were enlightened with styling advice and the Westpac Women's Alumni were inspired to develop their Personal Brand.

If you would like to evaluate your image, the New Year is a perfect time.  Book your Personal Branding session now on 0419468272.

Office Looks - Ladylike Chic

I love that now it's back to work we can see a renewed interest in corporate wear by fashion designers.  Also women can bring out their more feminine side in beautifully tailored garments.   The look is smart but feminine in pencil and straight knee length skirts, plain front trousers, softly tailored jackets and stylish blouses.

Dresses are also prevalent in softly tailored and subtle prints that are fresh, fuss free and sophisticated.  Look at wearing neutrals that suit your own personal colouring by wearing:

Browns including tan, camel, sand or cream with a splash or red, orange or peach.
Navy is always chic and teams well with red, pink, emerald or blue.
Grey is classic and shines next to red, pink, blue or purple.
Black is stylish with white and/or red, cobalt blue, hot pink or purple.  (make sure it flatters your skin)

To look more alive in neutrals that suit you book a Colour Consultation and Reinvention on 0419468272 or robin@definingstyle.com.au

Can You Tell a Man by His Shoes?

Men don't pay the same attention to shoes as women; they seem to wear the same pair day in and out.  When that pair falls apart they replace it with another.  Far better to rotate your shoes so they breathe and invest in having your shoes repaired when they wear down.  This will ensure the shoe looks great and lasts longer saving you time and money.

Guys please remember shoes finish off your outfit and demand to be looking the best.  Ideally you have three pairs of business shoes and three pairs of casual shoes (boots, runners and slip ons.

To look modern wear a more tapered toe and consider a buckle instead of laces.  A great investment is a shoe with a leather sole, insole and leather lined.

Five Fashion Fixes Revealed

Life's full of unexpected hitches; you run to a meeting and find makeup on your clothes, or you're at a wedding when the hem of your dress falls.  Here are five quick fixes.

Makeup Stains - Baby or make-up wipes are great for removing or reducing makeup stains on clothing. They also remove lint from clothing and dirt from shoes. Do not remove any stains from silk - have it dry cleaned.
Fallen Hems - Use Hollywood tape which is double-sided as a temporary fix.
Slipping Bra Straps - For a temporary fix stick Hollywood tape.  Later cut and reattach the back straps further in toward the centre of your back, or buy bra clips to attach at the back and pull the two back straps together.
Panty Hose Runs - Use clear nail polish to stop a run.
Static Cling - This often happens with skirts. For a quick fix rub hand cream into your thighs (through panty hose if necessary). To prevent it, spray anti static spray to the inside of your skirt.
