Jean Talk - Embrace the Blues

Denim is the hot item for winter and the good news is that jeans last forever, age with grace and are made from the most durable fabric. There are many styles available to find the perfect shape for you.

  • The Boyfriend a la Katie Holmes - This baggy jean is in demand and is a great casual look. Remember this is not the most slimming look.
  • The 80's - The ripped, shredded, bleached or stone washed jeans of the 80's are back. Wear only if young.
  • The 70's Flare - This look is in again this season and looks sleek and hip. Try Country Road or Mavi Bianca. Make sure the flare is not too wide or you will look out of balance.
  • The Boot Leg - Timeless and classic, my favourite as it suits all body shapes, never dates and is always available.
  • The Skinny Jean - Only the thin and brave should wear this spray on look. Try Sass and Bide's Zippora or Sportsgirl.

  • Luxembourg - Soft and silky cream satin enhanced with black lace overlay with wide supportive straps.

Men – Last Minute Fixes

Life is full of unexpected hitches, you're running to work and your zipper is stuck or your button is loose. Here are some tips for solving your common emergencies.

  • Stuck Zipper - First run a lead pencil along the teeth, if this does not work rub a bar of soap or a wax candle onto the problem area. With a little manipulation, the zipper should come unstuck.
  • Loose Buttons/Fraying Button Threads - A loose button can quickly turn into a missing button. Dab the top of the button with a little of your partner's clear nail polish to prevent it from completely falling off. Reattach ASAP.
  • Pilled Sweaters - Remove with lint sand paper (rub across sweater to remove pills) or very carefully use a razor.

Wedding Trends – Vintage Hollywood

Brides to be are looking to the screen idols of vintage Hollywood to recreate their look. Brides love the antique, old movie-star look which is so feminine but still very independent. The face is the focus with finely brushed lips and sophisticated up-dos or polished waves (a la Scarlett Johnasson and Kate Winslet). The look is simple with gorgeous soft fabrics that drape the figure and one statement jewellery piece. For more on weddings.

VINTAGE CLEARANCE SALE

"Like most women, I carry great weights on my shoulders, but sometimes it's the straw on top that breaks my back. My Achilles heel was definitely my dress sense. I DIDN’T HAVE ANY. I didn't attend my 30th School Reunion because I fell asleep. I'd spent all day trying to find the perfect outfit to fit with my life, a "together" woman with her own business.

That's when Robin entered my life. Three hours after our first meeting 85% of my clothes had been sorted and sent to a better place. Our next adventure was hitting the shops. Three hours later I had a much smaller repertoire of mix and match garments but better still, I knew what colours and styles suited me. Robin's styling sessions should be put on the school curriculum. No more tears before breakfast as I discard shirt after blouse in search of the look for the day. Knowing that you look great is intrinsic to your self confidence. Spend some time with Robin and you will come away a winner.
